6 Billion Barrels of Sweet Crude Oil Discovered in Tigray - About 6,000 Barrels Per person ስድስት ሺ በርሜል በነፍስ ወከፍ !!

This is a serious message that all persons of Tigrian origin to return to Tigray to establish legal residency eligibility to be counted in the emerging petrodollar windfall. I hope Halafi Mengedi takes care of his eligibility ASAP!!!
:P :P
Horus,

This story is not new & is nothing more than another propaganda blast brought-out again by Dr. Depreporno to buy time for his struggling regime in Mekelle. The existence of oil-bearing rocks aka 'shale oil' was known since the era of Haile Sealssie & there are other areas in Ethiopia that also have similar rocks.

This kind of oil is too expensive to extract as one has to literally bake the rocks to extract the oil they contain via a process known as 'fracking'.
Often the amount of energy used to heat-up the water used for 'fracking' is so expensive that it makes this manner of extracting oil financially/economically un-viable.

Canada & the USA are among the few countries that have managed to make oil-production via 'fracking' barely profitable, following the increase in the price of oil coming from the Middle-East. Right now & given the low price of oil around the world, those American & Canadian oil-producers via 'fracking' are struggling to stay competitive.

Also, fracking carries a very heavy environmental impact including a severe contamination of ground water resources & the use of huge amounts of fresh water that, of course, Tigray or Ethiopia lack.

Definitions:

a) - "The fracking process is complex. ... The fracturing releases the oil from the sand and rock allowing the team to extract the oil and natural gas from the ground. As one would expect, the cost of the equipment, process and cleanup from fracking is higher than drilling into liquid crude oil for extraction."

Donkey Horus! Raw meat and false banana eater! (Qocho!)
Tigray can produce one trillion barrels of oil, which roughly means each Tigrayan can have 1000 billion barrels to splash, which is quite a lot of money. We are not that greedy, we will with the money reach Ethiopians, build roads and rails, exapnd aeronautic and heavy industry, build homes for all ethiopians, modernise agriculture, build The Nile Dam in the Gonder area and complete the Great Ethiopian (Abyssinian) DaM or GERD. We get satisfaction by the fact all Ethiopians have high standard of living.

China has a cheaper technology to exract oil from shale. Thus Tigray could see some money rolling soon.

Ethiopia also has an estimated 3.89 billion tons of oil shale (enough to produce about one trillion barrels of oil, roughly) in Tigray State, on the border with Eritrea.

Saudi Arabia has not got enough oil reserves. It is USA and Russia, which have the largest deposits. china has started using shale oil to it's industries. There different technologies to exploit shale oil. We do not need water. We can melt the shale to get oil, which is happening in US.Ethiopia has potentially much electricity to be used in energy intensive industries as this. Tekezze Rier dam only could be used to extract oil from the large shale deposit in Tigray.

Saudi Arabia is not a stable country. Soon there might be war between Iran and Sudi Arabia. Turkey stands also against Saudi Arabia. If war breaks, the production of oil might diminish and the world runs short of energy to run it's huge industries. Shale oil might be in demnd if Saudi Arabia becomes like Libya, which is possible.
