Abera,
yes, it should be always COUNTRY FIRST. Country is like the home you dwell in, while the other disputes and arguments around who should get what and shouldn't get what is how to arrange the administration of your home. If you don't have home, then there is also nothing to argue about, you have already lost, empty handed.
Any rational mind shouldn't miss this simple fact, unless a traitor, who lives for his/her belly alone.
Country's stake is very high, if you lost, then the consequence is also far reaching and far more grave, we see it in front of our eyes now. The case of Assab is a clear testimony to this. Someone at sometime made a wrong decision, be that deliberate or inadvertently, the consequence has been grave. If that was about internal bickering, we can overcome that tomorrow one way or the other more easily.
We should be cognizant of our priorities. Issues of top priorities should never be compromised for the issues of less priorities, if you are rational human being. You first try to safe your home before trying to spend your energy on how to arrange it inside.
If somebody may miss this simple fact, then the person should be a dumb or indeed a banda, which are plenty in the case of Ethiopia, unfortunately.
If someone is standing with the interest of Egypt against that of Ethiopia, then I shouldn't even spend my precious time to convince that person.
But the point of this discussion is that Egypt is not behind the GERD in her latest stunt of political show on the world stage. Anybody knows that GERD is a fait-accompli, like I already said.
It is against Ethiopia having an unimpeded access to the sea and this fact begs the bigger question of why and since when?
My assumption is that this should have been an orchestrated conspiracy for a longer time, it has been exposed now, like you have said.
Egypt has no business in Somalia, and it is there not to fight against Al-Shabab, it is also there not to thwart the completion of GERD. It must have some other ulterior motive and clearly said it is against Ethiopia accessing the sea, unimpeded. Egypt wants to fight us, Ethiopians. It doesn't matter if you are from this or that group, it will kill you, one way or the other.
If Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti or any other neighboring country allowed a subversive actions against Ethiopia's interest through its territory, then we deserve the right to defend ourselves and hit back against that. Eritrea knows us well by now, Somalia will be thought the lesson as well. But Somalian people are also already displaying their disdain to what the man acting like an activist while bearing a statesman attire.
If not this generation, then certainly the future Ethiopians will retaliate accordingly in the future against the Egyptians for their harm against Ethiopians. They decided to conspire against us while drinking from our own gardens for generations. Ungrateful!

Re: Is the current Egypt's stunt in Somalia and elsewhere about GERD or Red-Sea?
Why keep raising the same question again and again while you know well that a naval base is a tool to protect your interest, one way or the other? A nation's interest is not limited to its sea cost, it is also the lanes of international waters, where the arteries of international trades are flowing? You missed this simple fact? I don't think, just trying to keep me busy, explaining the obvious?Dama wrote: ↑02 Sep 2024, 14:28DDT,
Why would a landlocked country need a navy base on a sea or ocean court. It has no border there. Its territory doesn't reach there. No border to protect. Naval base is to protect a coubtry's sovereign territory from hostile aliens.
Only countries whose legal territories include seas and oceans, upto 200 miles out on the sea, have the duty and right to protect it from illegal and alien use.

On whose side is the Arab League on the current media posturing of Egypt visa-vis Somalia or Ethiopia?

Addis Ababa is not holding the stick by the middle, but is holding it at one end while waving the other as a warning that it wields power: the dam is on its land, it controls the flow of the Nile and until recently it has maintained some 10,000 soldiers in Somalia , while there are more on the border.

None of you dare to face the hard truth, either due to lack of comprehension or lack of the needed stamina. I opened this thread before a number of weeks, and now others have started to state it as is.
2. It wants to deny Ethiopia any option to access the sea on the Red-Sea and Gulf of Eden. Here you see it as said by the very people who are close to the matter. That is why Egypt came to Eritrea with a suitcase full of documents and want to mediate between Shabia and Woyane, two of its own creation.

1. Egypt is not concerned about the GERD, which it knows can't turn back anymore.Religion aside, Egypt has strategic interests in Somalia. Major General Samir Farag, senior strategist at the Security and Defense Advisory Board of Egypt, told me that securing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, located north of Somalia and at the southern entrance of the Red Sea, is ”a national security priority” for Egypt as the waterway secures the Suez Canal, which is significant for Egypt. Farag lamented the losses incurred by Egypt as a result of the Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea in the wake of the Hamas-Israel war which have forced shipping companies to seek alternate—albeit longer and costlier—routes around Africa, leading to a significant reduction of more than 50 percent in Suez Canal revenues.

Fuc..Kers,
Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia back in 1960. Assab was part of Eritrea. Haile Sellasie unilaterally abolished the federation terms and illegally annexed Eritrea. You can lie all you want, but Eritrea is a sovereign country that includes Assab. You don’t want to live in peace that is your choice. BTW, Egypt knows it well. You violate any territorial integrity of neighboring countries, Egypt will of the chance to violate your own sovereignty. BTW, Ethiopia will disintegrate on its own. It does not need any help. The aftermath, how the entities of Ethiopia will look like is your guess. The little twerp, little Galla is trying to prolong his tenure. The Emirati will turn back on you. He will laugh when Ethiopia disintegrate into the size little Guragie.
