TPLF's ethnic federalism policy forcefully imposed on the Ethiopian people to serve an ulterior agenda has since backfired. It is now pitting people in different regions of Tigray against one another, such as the tension between the oppressed people of Enderta and the Adwa oppressors, which is feared could lead to a bloody civil war in Tigray.

The International Crisis Group (ICG) in its 2009 report on Ethiopia warned TPLF's policy of Ethnic Federalism is potentially explosive. It cautioned, "it was ethnic federalism that destroyed both the former Yugoslavia and the former U.S.S.R."

Back in 1993, President Isaias warned the agame Meles that ethnic federalism along with Article 39 was a recipe for a disaster that could potentially disintegrate Ethiopia. But Meles didn't care, for that was the only option he saw to create the Greater Republic of Chigray.

It's horrifying to learn that, Meles Zenawi actually knew of the consequences of ethnic federalism, but he decided to implement it anyway following TPLF's "እኔ ከሞትኩ ሰርዶ አይብቀል" doctrine. Why can't they just leave the union without destroying Ethiopia?
