Re: Minerals of Somalia
At this stage of its socio-cultural, I would suggest Somalia more to engage in desert farming/agriculture. Promoting desert agriculture initiative is more equitable share for the pastoralist poor people. In traditional clan based community the dividend from sale of minerals unrealistic and more importantly, environmental pollution and degradation is more likely to result in. Thus, literacy, modernization and evolution of non-clan based is a prerequisite for better equity and environmental friendly sustainable development.

They will give you kids that carry shoes for Amhara, join in their raw meat processions and complain victims on and off.
Galla never proud of who they are. They will steal the culture of their neighbours. Those near Afar try to look Afar, those with Amhara join the raw meat and shoulder shaking and those near Sidama took all Sidama culture.

Somalia cannot develop its economy by farming and exporting animals to markets in the Middle East, however, Mining is a promising sector, It has the potential to be a driver of poverty reduction and economic growth. It can create direct and indirect employment and income, develop transport and other necessary infrastructures, Unlike its neighbours, Somalia is well endowed with a wide array of mineral wealth, which could become through exports its major source of earning foreign exchanges.
By the way, Somalia is not desert, It's a semi arid savanna flat country.

The US Coastline Exploration Company paid US$7 million to the Somali government for seven oil blocks, In 2020 Shell and Exxon have also made a US$ 1.7 million payment to Somalia to secure rent on five blocks that were awarded to the companies 30 years ago under the rule of former president Mohamed Siad Barre.
Somalia has more than 200 offshore oil blocks, said to hold over 250 billion barrels of oil.

Re: Minerals of Somalia
Well, if Somalia is like what you are describing that is good. But it is often regarded as a predominantly arid and semiarid country with very little percentage of its land arable (as little as 13% cultivable). It has fewer rivers and fewer sources of fresh water compared to her neighbors, which is a major disadvantage/setback to its future growing population. At this stage of African countries where their bargain power is insignificant and their weak governance structure , mineral whether promising or falsely promising are just pure fantasy, if even materialized, they will be curse than blessings, especially in a clan based society like Somalia.

I understand where you are coming from but clan based society is not the same as ethnic groups/ethnicity, We are fighting over everything in Ethiopia, Somalis are one big family, the problem in Somalia is external interference, not the clans, Western imperialism interference over the last 50 years had destabilized Somalia, Speaking of waters, Somalia, like other countries in Africa, has a huge amount of groundwater reserves, don't fall for climate change activists and western media propaganda, they have a hidden agenda.

With a vast rich impressive sandy coastline, Somalia could become the world's largest exporter of oil and natural gas within 2 years, Extracting oil from offshore is easier, swiftly and less expensive compared to onshore oil extraction, Somalia’s future looks radiant.
