A source at the SBU told this to Ukrinform.

"Long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defense Forces (Air Force, Special Operations Forces, the Center for Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and other branches of the military) carried out the largest attack on Russian military airfields since the war began. It was a 'fun' night today at the Voronezh, Kursk, Savasleyka and Borisoglebsk airfields," the source said.

The source confirmed that this was a specially planned operation so that the enemy could not use these airfields for glide bomb strikes on the front line and Ukrainian cities.

"Russian war correspondents are already whining on social media that the strike was effective and that air defenses failed to protect these objects. Local social media channels wrote about ten explosions at Savasleyka alone, from where MiGs regularly take off, terrorizing the whole of Ukraine with air raid alerts. We are waiting for satellite photos with destroyed Russian fighters and warehouses," the interlocutor said.

According to him, the SBU continues to methodically weaken the aviation component of the Russian military machine.

"For now, it is the planes that give the enemy an air superiority, but we will continue to clip the wings of these 'birds'," the source said.

As reported, explosions rang out this morning in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, where the Savasleyka air base is located, and local authorities said air defenses were activated in the region.

Local social media channels also wrote about explosions at the Borisoglebsk and Baltimor airfields.

SSU captures 102 Russian servicemen in Kursk sector - source

The Security Service of Ukraine's (SSU) special forces captured 102 Russian servicemen in the Kursk region.
A source in the SSU told Ukrinform.

"This is the most massive capture of the enemy that we managed to carry out at one time. We are talking about the capture of ruscits in the Kursk region," the source said.



He added that this was made possible by a special operation conducted by the SSU's A Special Forces. They captured and cleared a company stronghold, which was well-fortified, concrete and well-fortified from all sides, with underground communications and accommodation for personnel, a canteen, armoury and even a bathhouse. According to the agency's source, the enemy was not going to surrender, and had more than enough provisions and ammunition.

Special forces of the SSU Central Special Operations Centre captured 102 servicemen of the 488th Guards Motorised Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces and the Akhmat unit.

As reported by Ukrinform, captured Russians from various units in the Kursk region have expressed a desire to be exchanged with Azov fighters held in Russian captivity.

As reported, in Russia’s Volgograd region, a fire broke out at the Marynivka military airfield as a result of an overnight drone attack, which is confirmed by reports from local authorities, residents, and satellite images.

Earlier, on August 16, as a result of the operation run by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, kamikaze drones hit the Savasleyka military airfield in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. Three aircraft were destroyed and five more were damaged, according to the GUR.

According to Ukrinform, Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video message.

“I have just spoken with the head of the Syrskyi Command. We have made progress in the Kursk region - from one to three kilometers. We have taken control of two more settlements. Active actions are underway in one more settlement. We have replenished the exchange fund,” the President noted.

According to the Head of State, the parties also discussed the defense actions of the Armed Forces in Donetsk region. Particular attention was paid to Novohrodivka and Vodyane, where most of the attacks are taking place. Zelensky expressed gratitude to all units for their resilience.

“Today I want to emphasize our forces that ensure Russian responsibility. Right now. The forces that we have and that we are constantly making stronger. All of our units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the DIU, the Security Service of Ukraine, who work for our long-range capability. UK intel shows fallout from Ukrainian drone strike on Russian airbase

British intelligence reported on the consequences of a Ukrainian strike on the Marinovka military airbase in Russia's Volgograd region, saying it caused widespread destruction to key infrastructure and equipment.
That’s according to a post on X by the British Ministry of Defense, Ukrinform reports.

The British Defense HQ published several satellite images showing the affected airfield as compared to the photos of the airbase taken on August 19 and August 24.




"The strike resulted in: 4 destroyed aircraft shelters, 3 damaged aircraft shelters, a destroyed radome, destroyed support buildings and destroyed open storage area facilities," the report said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on August 22, a long-range drone strike masterminded by the Security Service of Ukraine together with the Special Operations Forces targeted warehouses with guided aerial bombs and fuel at the Marinovka airfield in Russia.

Russian Su-30SM jet shot down over Black Sea

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence commandos shot down a Russian Su-30SM jet by a MANPADS system over the Black Sea.
This is according to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), Ukrinform reports.

"The fighter jet that crashed into the sea belonged to the 43rd Independent Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Russian Air Force, which is based at the airfield of the city of Saki in temporarily occupied Crimea," the message reads.

It is noted that the Russians lost contact with their warplane on September 11, 2024 at around 5:00.

Approximately three hours later, they began a search and rescue operation involving An-26 aircraft, as well as Mi-8 and Ka-27 helicopters.

At lunch time, the invaders reported to the command about a characteristic stain from aviation fuel discovered in the sea, 70 kilometers northwest of Cape Tarkhankut, and soon they also saw the wreckage of Su-30SM.

The estimated cost of such an aircraft is 50 million dollars.

As reported by Ukrinform earlier, anti-aircraft gunners of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign shot down a Russian Su-25 aircraft in the Kramatorsk Sector.

Drones launched by the Security Service (SBU), GUR defense intelligence, and Special Operations Forces destroyed a large warehouse of the Russian MoD’s main missile and artillery department in the settlement of Toropets, Tver region.

The site is used to store Iskander operational-tactical missiles, Tochka-U tactical missiles, KAB aerial guided bombs, and artillery ammunition, according to Ukrinform’s source in the SBU.

The interlocutor added that the SBU, alongside other elements of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, continues to systemically shrink the enemy missile capabilities Russia has been using to pummel Ukrainian cities.

The source says the Ukrainian drones that hit the facility caused a series of massive detonations. The blaze has already engulfed a 6km-wide area while local authorities have announced civilian evacuation.

"We are working to set up a similar show at other Russian military facilities that are feeding Russia’s war against Ukraine," the source emphasized.

As reported earlier, Russian media wrote that a number of drones had attacked Russia in the early hours of Wednesday, September 18.
