Sad to see the Gurage that I am disappointed with is the Gurage you're proud of.

A serious lack of event planning skill. Very poor officiating a public celebration. Due to lack of public participation which was strictly seated, the only figures who were celebrating and enjoying themselves were the singers and dancers. The public was kept far, far away at the back. The field was with fully grown grass; it could have been mowed.

No speeches on Gurage values, history, culture. No speech on Gurage unity. No speech on the Common Standard language that the former Gurage Zone was working on.
This celebration was more of music about relationships than about Gurage.
Nonsensical!! Unimpressive!!

A smaller Halaba, obviously with less resources than this so called East Gurage, officiated a celebration dedicated to Halaba itself.
