Ethiopia should ignore Eritrea and join the forum

Ethiopia Demands Admission to Red Sea Forum, Criticizes Its Exclusion

Addis Ababa February 24/2022 /ENA/ Exclusion of Ethiopia from the Red Sea forum, which is a new geopolitical architecture formed by the Gulf states and the Horn of Africa countries in 2019, is wrong, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Briefing the media today, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Dina Mufti said Ethiopia is demanding to join the Red Sea forum as the country is a regional champion in the endeavor to integrate the Horn of Africa region.

The forum involves some eight countries, namely Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Yemen.

However, Ethiopia that has more than 100 million population and geopolitical proximity to the Red Sea is excluded from the forum.

The spokesperson stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonen has pointed out during his trip to Germany to attend the 58th Munich Security Conference early this week that the exclusion of Ethiopia from the Red Sea forum is wrong.

“The deputy prime minister mentioned that exclusion of Ethiopia from the Red Sea forum is wrong because Ethiopia has a lot to contribute for strengthening peace and security of this region.”

According to Dina, since the forum is established to tackle illegal human trafficking, weapons smuggling and other related issues, Ethiopia should be part of this form as it could contribute a lot to for strengthening peace and security.

With this argument, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister who attended the Red Sea forum round table discussion on the sidelines of the 58th Munich Security Conference stressed the need for reconsidering Ethiopia as an important country for the forum, he elaborated.

“The Ethiopian role in linking the region through transportation is critical. As you know Ethiopia is a champion in the area of building infrastructures to accelerate regional integration,” the speaker noted.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen also held talks with the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, foreign ministers of Sweden and Ireland on the sidelines of the 58th Munich Security Conference, it was learned.

With regarding to the current situation in Ethiopia, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister briefed the officials that TPLF has continued the war by attacking neighboring regions and adding up to the atrocious acts that it has been committing so far.

Demeke also called on the international community to break the silence and hold the TPLF accountable for destroying the economic and social infrastructure that affected the delivery of humanitarian services, the spokesperson stated.

Ethiopia is demanding to join the Red Sea forum

Ethiopia has no right whatsoever about the Red Sea. We don't want to see any fucking Ethiopian in the Red Sea and/or Indian Ocean.

I don't think this has anything to do with Eritrea. It is entirely due to the Arab countries special sympathy and support for Egypt and Sudan. The Arab world regards Ethiopia as the most influential country in the horn of Africa that can lock the life line of Egypt which is Abay river. Egypt is both demographically and militarily is the leading Arab country, this is in other words about Egypt. If Ethiopia becomes a member then forum can't achieve its objective, deterring a threat from the water tower of East Africa, the life line of the Arab world.

as the country (Ethiopia) is a regional champion in the endeavor to integrate the Horn of Africa region.
What a misleading crap! How is it such champion "to integrate the Horn of Africa"!

With 25% out of its 3 million population in its capital having no access to toilets and defecating in rivers crossing the city??

Your reflection is inaccurate. It is something to criticize the leadership of the country and it is also another to realize that Ethiopia accounts the largest population in the horn of Africa and her size and economy is a significant determinant factor both in the current and future direction East Africa. For that matter this Arab country Forum, to me, is nothing Arab's always love and do this, but they simply remain always only loud noise. Other Black Africans, I don't know why, feels better when get together with Arabs.

Well & good, but why the need to ask the EU to meddle & even call them "decision makers" in the process?

What's up with that?

Has Ethiopia asked the group & got rejected? If so, when did that happen? And the funny thing is, it's not asking. It's DEMANDING!

Besides, this Egypt thing is hogwash because Egypt has not only given up opposing the Gerd but it has even realized there're huge gains for it. The water level will not diminsh & since the country is building a new Capital City in the desert, it has plans to buy electricity from Ethiopia.

What we're seeing, sadly, is Tplf 2.0- only this time with Abyi at the helm.

They've managed to lure him in, it seems.

For Eritrea, it's very simple! It only needs to cancel its membership in the forum, if it's gonna be driven by Europeans.

I doubt Eritrea can stop or will stop Ethiopia to join the Red sea countries.
Ethiopia has enough Arab enemies, needless to oppose her for her quest.
the presence of Ethiopia will not hurt Eritrea if not strengthened.
The Red sea states use their union mainly to inform each other in a time of summer.
if locust swarms are crossing from south Assia through their border.
They all have nor the economy or the will except Egypt to militarize it.
asking the whiety master is depressing and shamefully, the whitey has power to some
who accept their power to some the whitey is simply a rich kid from another block.

Ethiopia has a very important role to play in the geopolitics of the red sea, It also has a stake in securing its goods that pass through the red sea, Eritrea which is the most isolated country on the planet has no say in the maritime security in the red sea.

Ethiopia will one day invade Eritrea.

It is absolutely unacceptable for 120 m population of Ethiopia to be curved out of the sea where our ancestors had been reaching to the world. Whoever wins the ongoing internal war, the 1st priority should be annexing the strip of land from Assab to the historic port of Adulis. The ongoing civil war in Ethiopia was planned by Egypt and implemented by Eritrea , therefore, Eritrea deserves a strategic penalty for messing with Ethiopia. We should not forget Eritrea had been the head quarter of any destabilizing force working against the Ethiopian government for three decades and what is going on in Ethiopia is as the result of that.
You can't even beat Al-shebab let alone attacking Eritrea. One thing i have come to observe is that Ethiopia military forces are weak, talkative and number one in barging. when was you ever heard Eritreans talk about war and about being victories? NEVER!!!! You hear Every hour how Ethiopian forces wiped out the sub-humans and latter you find it out it was a lie. So, my advice is to you, you sub-human, try to attack Eritrea and if you are lucky to tell the story, then then tell me what happen.

Ethiopia has a responsibility to protect its long term geo-stratigic interest in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean region. Ethiopia can not leave this important issue to the opportunit Arabs or any of their slaves be it Sudan or Djibouti who are Arab Leauge members. Ethiopia should always make sure that the Red Sea does not remain an "Arab lake".
Ethiopia needs to take lessons from Iran that has mede sure the "Perssian Gulf" is not an Arabian or American gulf.
In this case, Eritrea's responsibility is for Ethiopia to get a full seat in this forum. Eritrea's long term stability is insured and becomes a stronger nation if its policies are directed to support Ethiopia's in the Red Sea and the Nile valley, so should Ethiopia reciprocate this gesture.
Ethiopia's and Eritrea's two important long term strategic interests are the Nile valley and the Red Sea geo-stratigic interests. Eritrea should not make the mistakes of Ukraine. Whether the two nations like or not, their stratigic interests are forever intertwined. Either they have to work together or they have to fight and compete against each other. In this case, the smaller Eritrea needs to understand this two stratigic interests of the 120 million Ethiopians. Eritrea should think long on how it can use the power and resources of the giant 120 million nation.
Eritrean needs to see how the smaller nations around China or the USA or Germany or Brazil and Djibouti are leverging.

Calm down, guys!

There's no real forum to join or retract from. This is nothing but an Arab pre-emptive empty bravado to counter Turkey's influence in the region.

Never count on something led by Arabs.

You have no clue about law of the sea convention, Iran has indisputable sovereignty over half of the Persian Gulf (also known as Arabian Gulf) while Ethiopia is landlocked and has no sovereignty over the Red Sea, moreover, Ethiopia has no business in the Indian Ocean.

In 1953 Ethiopia became the first red sea country to have territorial waters, continental shelf, exclusive economic zone and other maritime zones, Today, Ethiopia is nervously begging for red sea membership, how sad.

Well, first of all, all regional organizations or forums have never been there for the interest of the regions that their name stands for. So what is the urgency or desire to intrude on such types of forums, one may ask.

If security is of concern, top priority should have been given to cleanse TPLF from the surface of Ethiopia so that people could freely move and do their business in harmony with each other. That would lead to economical growth and prosperity before anything else.

But, when you read news about Ethiopian government building Navy and signing deals with other countries to get materials to do so, raises eyebrows of any person who thinks of prioritizing necessities and economical strength.

If I am not misstaken the redsea forum was created by Saudi Arabia and includes only countries that share the redsea costallines.

Ethiopian is just 25 miles away from Red see. If you stand on a tall building on Ethiopia's side you can see red see, that is how proximate Ethiopia is. so to say that Ethiopia should not contribute to the peace and security of the red sea is a naivete. Add to its proximity, the size of its population, which is close to 15 times of our three neighboors. it will be erroneous to exclude Ethiopia. Ethiopian security should be the security of all our neighboring countries. After all the red sea has been used to invade Ethiopia many times over, to say that Ethiopia should not be a part of security on the red sea is shortsighted. If Ethiopia is not secure there will be no peace or security in the Red sea.

How Somalia is faring out when it comes to defecating ?

https://www.facebook.com/UnicefSomalia/ ... 8853975376

DO YOU KNOW THAT MORE THAN HALF THE POPULATION OF SOMALIA DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO TOILETS. The danger of poor Hygiene and Sanitation related illnesses especially for children looms large in Somalia where more than half of the population still practice open defecation because they do not have access to basic toilets.

UNICEF Somalia - IT'S WORLD TOILET DAY. DO YOU KNOW ...
Somaliaman, defecating on top of two camels doesn't count as using a toilet.

You see I told you, Ethiopia is heading to Arabization. The Gulf states, that is how they Aarabize slowly nations like Tanzania, Maldives etc, Ethiopia will soon be in Arab League, that is fine but will be more Arab, arab language, due to OLf Islamic movement will turn the country Islamic with Sharia law, the writing is on the wall. The Gulf states brought this isolation on purpose and Ethiopia will also give up Nile. I did not become Ethiopian to be Arab. I am proud African from Ethiopia. Eritrea's deception is this too. If this is truly going to materialize, I now realize where Dr Aby's heart beat will finally be visible and why more and more Muslim leaders are hand picked but no Orthodox chrisitans.
