Re: The many lies told about Gada system, slavery & slave trade!

This was what the galla in the 16th century said in insulting way about the ppl in the province of Shewa and Amara (Bete Amara), - "Let us not shave our heads when we kill the people of Shoa and Amhara, for they are but speaking cows; they cannot fight.” galla used to kill ppl for fun. The claim tha...

Anyone know about the Sidama expansion?

I know very little about it (from the discussion with Portlandia and reading). From the little I know it happened during the 1st millennium AD and was as destructive as the 16th/17th century Oromo expansion.

I would really appreciate it if someone who knows about it say something or give source/s.

Yejju didn’t went that far northwest. They should be in north Welo. Their case is also complicated. Originally they weren’t galla/Oromo but gallanized later. So they shouldn’t be seen as Oromo during the latter migration. There is no Oromo tribe called Harari. The Oromo that went to Harar were Humb...

Definitely not Shewa! It used to be dominated by Muslims of Argobba, Harla and other Ethio-Semitic highland farmers and Cushitic nomads. Shewa Sultanate ruled this area until they were disposed and colonized by Umar Walashma from Zeila, Ifat Sultanate. Ever since the Somali invasion in that provinc...

Re: What is the difference between Galla and Oromo!

Ifat and Adal territories might included some part of Somali area but their proper areas weren’t at least for Ifat. Also their founders weren't. Let's not argue about this again. I've given you Ethiopian chronicles. We have long long oral traditions and medieval foreign sources to prove this is our...

Re: Did Amharans from Shewa transform Gondar into the Amhara and Orthodox culture

Zadengel was born and raised in Shire, Debrekerbe, his mother is Slilus Hayla of Enderta, who was first wife of Minas, brother of Gelawdewos. Silus Hayla is the daughter of Abeto Robel of Enderta, he himself being the youngest brother of Libnedengel's mother. Abeto Robel died fighting Gragn Mohamed...

Re: Did Amharans from Shewa transform Gondar into the Amhara and Orthodox culture

Samson, King susnyos did not introduce Christianity in Gonder. Gonder was Christian since the the binging of Christianity. Susinyos was in Gonder around the 16th century. That means Resident of Gonder Amaras were Christians for at least for 1200 years before king susinyos arrived. Actually the Gond...

Re: Did Amharans from Shewa transform Gondar into the Amhara and Orthodox culture

I think you are asking about north Gondar and from my understanding yes it was the Amara from Shewa and other areas who greatly Amaranized and Christianized it starting from the second half of the 16th century. But the earliest presence of Amara there date back before the 16th century.

galla are claiming Abba Babrey to be galla

I will quote what I found from a book,
• “Very recently a debate arose that he may be an Oromo.”

This is another indication that no one is safe from being claimed by galla even if the person lived centuries ago. They will claim anything because that is one of the characteristics to be a galla.

Re: Amhara is not a immigrant to ethiopia

Yes they aren’t emigrant but they are Cushitic. They are Semitic and being Semitic doesn’t mean you are from other place.

I read the article you posted 1 or 2 years ago. Although generally good there are some mistake in it.

Re: What is the difference between Galla and Oromo!

Their are many theories about the origin of Galla word, but I'm sure it didn't originated in somali. Their is no written evidence to back up your claim. Your just being a somali, taking credit for everything that doesn't belong to you. The Oromos first had contact with amhara and other ethinc group...

Re: What is the difference between Galla and Oromo!

Some Muslim Oromo groups used to prefer to be called galla than Oromo because the latter for them denoted being pagan. Watch Donald Levin ESAT interview. Re: What is the difference between Galla and Oromo!

1) there is no consensus on the origins of the term ''galla,'' there are multiple theories in regards to its origin: but one thing's for sure: it's an insult and oromos never called themselves this . that should be sufficient if u consider urself as an ally of the oromo, or even someone who respect...

Re: What is the difference between Galla and Oromo!

Galla is derogatory word that came from somali language There might be a word galla in Somali language but you can’t for sure say it’s connected with the Oromo ppl because the word is also found in Oromo language with different meaning. For Oromo it was war cry and it’s possible that Ethiopians hea...
