The Legitimacy Crisis of Tribalism and Abiye Ahmed’s Search for Divine kingship !! Must Listen to Republican Ethiopians of Our Time !!!!

The point I am raising is a very serious matter. Those of you who are students of political philosophy and political theory recognize my point. Ethiopia in her entire history has never experienced a government with legitimate power. Ethiopia never has a governing group of persons who were granted the will and consent of the people they ruled.

During the long centuries of clan and tribal self-rule, elders governed on the basis of their age and wisdom. It was rarely the case that they asserted their right to rule, their power to decide and their authority to punish came from a god or God.

During pre-feudal era of the warlords, big men ruled based on their military violence. Their power to rule came from the point of the spear or barrel of the gun.

During feudalism the legitimacy of the prince, the power of the emperor came from divine kingship. God was the king of the heaven and the emperor was the king of the earth. The king was the god of power over his subjects. Ethiopia has not moved from this state.

For a brief period, there was a miniscule Ethiopian liberal democratic political class that tried to introduce the principles of humanism, the sovereign human individual, the free citizen and the free will and consent of this free citizen as the source of all political legitimacy and foundation of the constitution and jurisprudence of the society. I think that class died with the defeat of the Neway brothers in 1960.

The Ethiopian military ruled through authoritarian ideology under pretext of socialism – a types of semi-fascist populism where by a brainwashed population becomes subject of dictators and demagogues.

This was followed by the rule of tribal bandits using same authoritarian ideology under the pretext of ethnic nationalism – a types of semi-fascist tribal populism where by brainwashed tribes become willing subjects of their local chiefs and origarchs This is 2018.

Then comes Abiye Ahmed- a classic demagogue, a product of ethnic confusion and a revolutionary situation where tribalism has lost all legitimacy to rule and the liberal democratic force (the modern Ethiopian political community) is not yet strong enough to establish a constitutional democracy.

Hence the real and fundamental question is this. Is Abiye a legitimate ruler? No. He is not. He is a type of dictator – be it a convincer, demagogue, conman or just a joke. He is boss of an ethnic party and accountable to that tribal party.

This is where his talk about his divine kingship comes in. Abiye is trying hard to appear as a legitimate ruler of Ethiopian people. Remember, this is the most central question as we speak. Every single day he is in office he is there illegally just like Meles, just like HMD. All his demagoguery and speech is essentially a device to deepen and consolidate his illegitimate power and desire to become another strong man, another dictator.

This is why whether he is conscious of it or not he is resorting to divinity and the fiction of miracles for his fateful kingship.

If Abiye was a true democrat, he would have dissolved the socalled parliament which is the tool of tribal disctators and called for date certain national elections - election for transitional regime, constitutional refefrendum and election for THE FIRST ETHIOPIAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICAN GOVRNMENT.

As we speak, it is a grand drama for fools !

Here is one Authentic Leader of the Ethiopian Democratic Republicanism - Brilliant !!!
