US congresswoman Ilhan Omar grilled Columbia University President Nemat “Minouche” Shafik on Wednesday about protests on campus and the broader hostile environment faced by students during at a House committee hearing that discussed Columbia University’s response to antisemitism.
Omar said she was “appalled” to learn that Columbia University suspended and evicted six students for their involvement in pro-Palestinian panel events on campus.
