Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has hailed the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s retaliatory attack on the Israeli-occupied territories, saying the hybrid operation taught the occupying regime an unforgettable lesson.

In a statement on Sunday, Raeisi said that the drone and missile strike turned a new chapter in the history of Iran’s authority and materialized the sincere promise of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to punish the aggressor.

“Last night, your zealous and courageous children in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, with the cooperation and coordination of all the defense and political sectors of the country, turned a new page in the history of Iran’s authority and taught a lesson to the Zionist enemy,” he said, addressing the nation.

Iranian President highlighted the powerful impact of last night's mission, conveying a resolute message of authority and deterrence to the Islamic community, while instilling fear and humiliation among the adversaries of humanity.

He further noted that during the last six months and especially the last ten days, Iran emphasized the dangers of the United Nations Security Council's inaction regarding violations by the Zionist regime. But despite efforts, the Security Council's response has been impeded by the influence of the United States and other backers of the Zionist regime.

“Iran's wise and authoritative move to protect its integrity, sovereignty, and national interests has served as a significant measure to hold the aggressor accountable and promote stability in the region,” Raesi said, adding that the Islamic Republic has not spared any efforts to restore and maintain peace and stability.

He added that Iran in the first step launched a series of drone and missile operations, specifically targeting Israeli military bases that posed a threat to security and stability.

Iran's president emphasized the nation's strength in safeguarding regional security and protecting the interests of neighboring countries, highlighting their unwavering dedication to advancing their neighborhood policy.

“Iran issues a strong caution against any actions that oppose its interests, warning of a more powerful and remorseful retaliation. The nation's armed forces closely monitor regional events and pledge a robust reaction to any provocative conduct from the Zionist regime or its allies,” Raesi warned.

The Iranian president called on supporters of the occupying regime to acknowledge the calculated action carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran and to abstain from endorsing the Israeli regime, which has played a role in intensifying its violations of regulations and disregard for global standards.

Iran’s UN ambassador has warned the United States against initiating military action against the country in the aftermath of the Islamic Republic’s recent legitimate retaliatory operation against the Israeli regime, Washington’s most treasured regional ally.

“Iran has no intention of engaging in conflict with the US in the region,” Iran's permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani told a UN Security Council meeting on Sunday.

“However, if the US initiates military operations against Iran, its citizens, or its security and interests, Iran will use its inherent right to respond proportionately,” he added.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories, but the extent of which is yet to be specified.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned the US against trying to involve itself in the conflict.

Shortly after the retaliation, Iran’s permanent mission to the UN issued a statement, saying the conflict was one between the Islamic Republic and the rogue regime, “of which the United States should stay away.”

Iravani added, “We demonstrated our commitment to peace by exercising our restraint about involving the US Army in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles bound for military targets in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

“This underscores our dedication to de-escalating tensions and avoiding the expansion of conflict.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, the envoy lambasted the US and the UK for their protecting the Israeli regime against accountability.

“The US and the UK are fully responsible for all its (Israel’s) decades-long aggressions and other crimes and unlawful measures in our region,” he said.

“Furthermore, they are responsible for all crimes of the Israeli regime, as it cannot commit any of such savage crimes in Gaza without the consent, order, and all-out political, financial, and military support of, and collaboration with, the United States and the UK.”

The envoy was referring to the regime’s October 7-present war against the Gaza Strip, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 33,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Iravani, meanwhile, cautioned that “the absence of accountability and the [Security] Council’s inaction in the face of the Israeli genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people has only emboldened this regime to continue its violations unchecked.”
